My brother-in-law signed off after 23 years of service. It is an exciting and emotional time for him! For those of you who know about the officer's last day at work, there is a big ceremony done over their radios; the Sheriff recalls highlights from your years of service and then many of the other officers say goodbyes over the radio also just before you call in for the last time to say you are off duty. It was quite emotional--it is done in your driveway so family can be present.
Thank you for men like Chuck!

It is hard to walk away from a lifetime of service. I know The Mister had a hard time after almost 40 years in the postal service. He still misses his customers and can recite every address and name by heart.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations are in order. Here's hoping it's a new beginning for him with lots of adventures in the future.
I did not know that! What a wonderful send off!
ReplyDeleteThank him for me, for his service to his community. God bless him and all law enforcement personnel. I am a 'graduate' of our local Citizens' Police Academy and have great appreciation for all they do for us.
ReplyDeleteI bawled twice just watching the video of him leaving home for his last day on duty…Final Call would have done me in! So thankful for him and for God’s protection of him through 23 years of service (plus his Marines service!). -Marsel
