Clerodendrum Trichotomum is finally doing its thing!!!! See the berries forming? Soon they will turn a very deep blue! It is one of the rare natural blue dyes on the planet! I have been reading up on how to dye with it so you will see a follow-up post eventually!
This plant is tall--15+' right now!
Here is another plant that shows up in November,
it is the Indian Pipe or Ghost Pipe. It looks like a mushroom or fungi but it is a plant that just lacks chlorophyl! The little bell shape at the end is the flower and has a very pleasing aroma.
Hi, our Ghost Pipes did not show up this year and I think it had something to do with our drought most of the spring and summer. It will be interesting if they appear next spring. Thanks for sharing the info!
ReplyDeleteYou've got some interesting things going on out there. I just said to The Mister that when the tree people are done we need to take a walk in the woods and see what's going on. It's been a long time since we've been able to get out there because of all the trees down from the storms but the tree people are out there right now cleaning it up pretty nicely.
ReplyDeleteWow! I'm excited to see what you do with the blue berries!!
ReplyDeleteBoth of those are very cool plants. That ghost pipe is really beautiful. Thanks for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
