I pieced one side of the quilt---using two different 'frames' for the 6 1/2" blocks. I also made several more of the blocks for the patriotic stars.
I noticed that the Lifesaver cactus is in bloom--this one is almost done blooming.
And this one is fresh; the botanical name is Huernia zebrina.
Hi DH, I just read your recent posts and enjoyed seeing the variety of hand work you do. I like to do the same. I noted that weave knitting stitch and you tackle wonderful quilt patterns. Also how kind you are to donate your work too. My hubby just had his regular visit to the dermatologist and came home with several such holes/scrapes. Not fun but so fortunate to get them taken care of. Happy Stitching of all sorts from me!
ReplyDeleteThose flowers on the Lifesaver cactus are the funniest thing.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen a lifesaver cactus!! How interesting and unusual!! Thanks for sharing the photos!! I love the quilt!! Keep us posted as you stitch into the homestretch!!
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother used to take a trip to Florida every year and your new quilt reminds me of the postcards she used to send. I learned to juggle with the bushel of oranges she brought back. I've never tasted any as good since.
ReplyDeletePretty quilt and that cactus!!! I've never seen one before and it DOES look just like a lifesaver! How fun is that?
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Nice! My lifesaver didn't bloom last year. I hope it does this year.
ReplyDeleteQuiet days are the best. Those cactus blooms are so amazing. Looks like your quilt is coming along nicely.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother was a whiz at growing cacti. And making quilts, now that I think about it.
