WOOD AND WOUND!

Now this is a wooden bowl!
I am thrilled with the way this turned out!

It weighs 7-8lbs, is made from a Live Oak Burl,
16" long and 8" wide, and 5-6" high.
This is a back  side of the bowl.  I think it needs a permanent place of honor on the shelf so I will need to do some rearranging to give it a proper spot!  It is too heavy to put on the table where I would have to move it for meals! lol  What an adventure!
Here is how my ankle looks now--I have no pain or discomfort,
I am very happy to report!  I have to change the bandage around noon;  I am very interested to see how it looks compared to the crater on my forearm, which is healing beautifully.
Mary and I had a great day yesterday, shopping and then lunch at Applebee's then more shops-we even included a stop at a local quilt shop!  A perfect day!

  2. There’s so much character in that bowl. I’m impressed by how you manage to keep the integrity of the wood and still turn it into something practical.
Everyone is full of skin cancer ouchies these days. Daughter managed to get a sunburn on top of her recent removal. How’s that for being clueless.

  3. The bowl is amazing. It reminds me of the biscuit boards my grandmothers and aunts used to use.

  7. That bowl is absoutely beautiful. God does indeed create beautiful things does't He? And you made the beautiful bowl from His creation. I love it!
I hope your ankle heals very, very quickly. My sister had a 2 inche by 3 inch crater on her shin last fall. It took three months to fill in completely, but now she just has an interesting scar. She gets 2-5 spots removed every year. So far, although I have to have full body checks yearly too, I haven't had any. Our Dad and our brother both had melanoma so we have to get checked regularly.
Prayers for you my dear friend.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  8. Beautiful bowl. I had to read back through your older posts to find where you mentioned the suspicious spots being removed. I'm curious as to what is considered unusual. As I'm getting older, I've got all kinds of spots showing up that I never had before.
