So I learned that a prescription like Lyrica (pregabalin) cannot be stopped because it will cause withdrawals of the most horrible kind. It has not been pretty and yesterday I woke Bill up to take me to the ER! The doctors hooked me up to an IV, did a chest Xray and an EKG and then administered an anti-seizure meds along with something for the nausea. After 20 minutes, they gave me some Lyrica and a 'script for a few more to take (2xday) until the mail order meds arrive. I only missed two days of the meds which are from a mail order pharmacy and I'm telling you,
I thought I was dying!
My official diagnosis was titled,
"Substance Withdrawal".
Not one of my proudest moments.
Sending a hug! Glad they gave you some help. ❤️ -Marsel
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry. I have a med for my back spasms like that. No stopping it cold turkey says the neurologist. He warned that it would be like the 4th of July in my head! NOT pretty. So glad that they gave you enough to get you through until your meds arrive. I can imagine how scary that must have been.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,

Oh, gosh! That's so awful for you! I'm glad the ER was able to stabalize you and that you are good to go with the meds arriving soon. Take care and I'm glad your Bill was able to get you to the ER quickly!
ReplyDeleteHow awful!
ReplyDeleteThat happened to my grandmother. It was terrible to see her go through that. She was hospitalized for quite a while. My doctor keeps trying to give me something for my anxiety that my sisters have warned me off of since they can't seem to quit it without feeling like jumping off a building. I've never actually gone to a doctor for anxiety. They just think I'm the nervous type I suppose. I love my anxiety and nervous energy in fact. Without it I'd be just another couch potato.
WOW. I understand your pride, but WOW.
ReplyDeleteOh no! I was on Tramadol for 5 months before my hip surgery and after. I tried to stop cold turkey. You cannot stop that level of narcotic cold turkey. I thought I was going crazy! I had to gradually wean myself off of it. I will never take that again. Hope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteWell that's no fun! These meds are great - but boy can they throw us for a loop sometimes!
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so sorry you went through that. I guess that's why I don't do the mail order meds...I'm always afraid something like that will happen. I'm glad you are okay now, but I know that was NO fun! I hope you are feeling much better now. (((HUGS)))
