There and Back Again

I added the binding onto this quilt in the morning yesterday. 

 I really enjoyed making two of these tops 

and now they are two striking quilts! 

 A good feeling to see them both completed!

I used a pantograph from Willow Leaf Studio called Birds and Blooms.

And then at lunch time Bill asked if he could take me out to lunch 

and then to 'see' some cars to find

 what I liked and didn't like! 

 I ended up knitting this much....

car shopping is not my favorite thing 

because of all the time it takes 

and still you come home with nothing. 

 At least I have a good start on the new sock. 

 It is Muse sock yarn with just a little bit of a open work up the side.

We saw this on the way home 

and I thought it was a funny sight to see the rainbow 

over the golden arches!

TDF 2015 Day Thirteen and Wheels

This fiber is so light and soft-it is angora!  There is only a half of an ounce here!

That is it for today!

And then there were two!  Orange makes me so happy!

The self-seeding Morning Glories are blooming.  What  a beauty they are growing up the tree. 

The Mandvilla likes the heat and rain,  no aroma but plenty of showiness!

Speaking of showy;  our Toyota Yaris has been traded in after 7 years of great service... 

for a Ford Escape (2010) of the older design because I do not like the newer ones!

It is nice to sit up higher again;  the ride is wonderful! 

I have to get used to the more subtle color;  it has plenty of storage room for fabric or yarn!

A Bit of This and Some of That

I made this for Abigail to match the one I made for Marsel for her beach walk. I did line it for Abigail and sent off a slip for Marsel to add to hers for when she wears it off the beach!

Bill sold his van..........couldn't get much for it at a dealership as a trade-in on a p/u truck so he put it out front to see how it would do-we sold it immediately........being a one car family for the first time ever in our lives is proving interesting! He is going truck hunting tomorrow. Hopefully, he will be successful so we can go out on the boat again-the Yaris just isn't up to the task!

I went to the doctor's today, a surgeon to talk about my gall bladder pain.............after suffering for so many years I found I had gone to the wrong kind of doctors in the past.......this man was quite cheerful about removing mine-says I have classic case of chronic 'gall bladder itis' and since it runs in my family it will be good to remove it before it becomes infected (like my Mom's!) Now that is a novel idea. I have had every test there is to have for the pain I have lived with for 20 years but I finally have some hope for its relief! My daughter was told in the ER when she went in with her gall bladder attack-go and see a surgeon about getting it out-never go to a gastrointeroligist. Well, guess where my pcp had always sent me . BUT at our new doctors I asked to see a surgeon and he said, "Great idea!" It was and will be............I have an appt for next month! Whoopee!

After the doctors we went to have a check-up for our Yaris-dealer gives free oil change and check-ups for life of the car-cool , huh?! Bill dropped me off at JoAnn Fabric Store and I shopped until I dropped...........I got everything on my list so I can finish up quite a pile of things!

We had lunch at Olive Garden and are ready to drop in our easy chairs.........it is hard work being retired!

New Wheels!

Bill and I started car hunting on our anniversary (May 1) and yesterday we picked up our new purchase! It is a Toyota Yaris sedan. We are going to double our gas mileage with this little guy. Amazingly, it has more leg room for Bill than my Amanti and the ride is equal to the larger car. The designers did many things right with this car. The dealership in Daytona called and we went and transferred our paperwork, said goodbye to my last car [I do bond with my vehicles and it is hard to say goodbye!), here is the old (the silver one) and the new (red) waiting for me.....]

and drove to the beach----> when you are that close to the ocean you have to visit! We had a relaxing walk along the shore and then sat and watched the pelicans have a feeding feast. They would fly about 20' above the water and dive straight down and catch something everytime! We would see them tip their heads back and swallow each time; the seagulls hung around them hoping they would drop something-it was very entertaining-sorry that there are no pictures, I left the camera back in the new car! Bill drove home from Daytona last night but I am going to find an excuse to drive it myself this morning, I think a trip to the library calls!

Bill's Hobby

While I have been exploring the world of quilts, Bill has been working on the cars that are not working in the yard and getting them up and running so they can be sold-here is the brown olsmobile called 'Da Beast' by our son when he was in college in NY!

It is now sitting by the front road with a for sale sign on it! Horrah!

We are cranking into a full summer temperature around here-90's everyday...it is beautiful out but we do need rain-haven't had any since April 4th! We run the sprinklers every evg and morning before the sun comes out.

This is a new hibiscus we bought in February and it is covered in blooms....love that red!
