IT'S MY PERROGATIVE!

It is so nice to wake up and see this guy each morning!  This is a pipe Bill drove in the ground ages ago to hold up a hanging pot and this guy (or one of his predecesors!) moved right in!  

I bought this book for Mom a while ago and had fun looking through it with her on the visit;  I like it so much, I bought one for myself!  I think it is a great springboard for sample blocks, one large afghan or for making dishcloths!  I bought it on Amazon. The yarn recommended in the book is Cascade 220 Merino Superwash which is a DK yarn.  I am going to use the new yarn I bought for the crochet afghan but I am going to use it for this instead!

Simply because I want to!

And this pair of socks.....I ripped out what I had done because it just didn't fit well.   The cable made it draw in uncomfortably and the length just eluded me.  I am now knitting it as a vanilla sock and I did the math again for the sock cheat sheet--I can't find the one I have used for years anywhere!  I didn't hesitate to rip out;  that sock has given me fits and now I have purged myself of the irritation! lol

 

CRAWLING ALONG

We had a visitor to our back yard yesterday! 

 He is a newly hatched Gopher Tortoise! 

 He held still while I took pictures of him 

and didn't once tuck up inside his shell!

I finished piecing the top for the patriotic table runner 

and even made the binding for it.

I had some leftovers blocks afterall

 and made this into a tablerunner, too. 

 I did run out of the background for the last two borders. 

 I did make the binding for it though.

And I loaded up the Sock Monkey quilt-wait until you see the backing!

 

Nocturnal

 This little 1" tree frog is pretty common around here-they hunker down in the plants all day 

and come out to 'sing' at night.

 Today, Abigail spotted this large guy-2 1/2" of tree frog and spotted!

 He was very relaxed about his photo shoot!

The little one is called a Squirrel Tree frog and the larger is called a Barking Tree frog!

So now we all learned something!

While they are nocturnal, I am not even though my best knitting time

 has become the hour before bedtime!

It's a good thing these mittens are so symmetrical so I can memorize the pattern for each row!  

I have to get knitting--I had hoped to send these home with my daughter so Bruce would have this completed pair while they still have winter!

(I had worried the mittens wouldn't fit but my daughter tried them on

 and assured me they are spot on!  Phew!)

This is a short and sweet visit so I had better get knitting.....!
