SOCK RETAKE II

I usually have a pair of socks going but this new pattern called for 1mm needles and I got this far and admitted that I just didn't enjoy knitting it on this needle!  I am a tight knitter, so it was a fight to get every stitch to advance for me.
It has languished unloved for almost a week.
I decided to pull out my usual needles which are 2.5mm needles and knit the same amount of stitches; there was a minimum  difference, so I am going for it!
You wouldn't think it would matter that much to increase the needle size in such a small amount but it did!
I need my knitting to be comfortable and enjoyable!
I knit to relax and create;  so the favorite needle it is.
Now, if I can only figure out this new way to make this toe-up sock,  I'll be all set!  To be continued!

Safe Harbor

I had my time at the chimney cut short when the rain blew into the porch and the area I was working!
I was stopped in my tracks at the lathe when a crack developed and blew the bowl off the lathe.  I tried to seal it with CA glue and hold it with a vise grip but it immediately opened up again when mounted on the lathe.  It will go on a back burner while I think about a remedy.
I gave into the flow of the day like the cats and sat and watched YouTube and made a sock.....ahhh, like coming into a safe harbor after a storm!

Unraveled Twice!

I thought the colors were off....after a confusing look, count and recount I figured out
I had started the heel gusset at red stripe three instead of stripe four.
Wow, such high numbers really threw me.  Sigh.

Nothing for it but reknit, counting better this time.
I did great until it came time to begin the heel turn
and then I miscounted when to execute that.
I should've been done with this shorty sock and showing off a finish.
Instead, I am putting it aside until later today.
At least, I picked up the new glasses and could use two eyes for most of yesterday
but if this sock is anything to go by,  I did better the day before with only one.
 Just goes to show....

Some Real Knitting

I actually knit on the latest pair of socks!
I finished the foot and turned the heel.
I am knitting slowly and resting because I get tired holding up my wrists!
Did I mention 'weak as a baby'?!
I did get a good report from the doctor who told me I am making huge progress
considering where I was a week ago.
Perspective is everything.

Most Evenings...

I usually end the day with Lena on my lap, my feet on the footstool and some knitting in my hands.
In spite of a busy day (annual appt with my neurologist) and plenty of boy action,
I did zip off the two samples for today.
I think I have found my new favorite cast on but it is good to learn a variety of ways.
There are still several more samples ahead!

A LITTLE SETBACK

Circular needles are my favorite way to knit for socks but the problem is having the wooden tips which when sat upon do break!  It's a ...
