TUMBLING TUESDAY

My rocks from the Washington trip are almost ready--

they are in the polishing stage now!

The assorted rocks from the freebie rocks are shaping up nicely--two that are really new to me are the tiger's eye rocks.and the pretty black/red ones called landscape Jasper.  These will both be finished next weekend.  I am looking forward to some other rocks a friend brought back from her trip to Alaska!  What a treat!

And the surprise is the glass tumbler!  I can get another one done in just a few days of tumbling;  I am going through all of my beach glass so that I can make any with sharper edges all rounded for using in an art project like this one!

 

A NEW TUMBLE

I've bought a smaller,less expensive tumber to make  faux sea glass!  Watch the horizen for a new craft in a future post!

I put some of the sea glass I have found on the beach but the edges weren't quite rounded enough.  The same way I load the barrel with grit, this is loaded but instead of 4-6 weeks,

 this only requires 4 days!

I will also try breaking some of the collected  glass  to tumble so that I can round out my glass palette!

It is a cute little tumbler and fits right on the shelf above my rock tumbler;  both are pretty quiet which is much appreciated!  I hope to have some results from both batches to share on Tuesday!

 

FRAGMENTS

After my morning eye appointment, in which we increased my dosage so hoping that is one 'pain' that will be under control again, I popped over to my neighbor's to help her with a sewing machine problem.  While there, I was amazed at the growth of this vine she calls Dutchman's pipe!  This flower is as big as my hand!

When I got home, Bill had done a lot of work clearing out this area which had gotten out of control with random pots and plants he had potted to give them a head start. 

 I love it all cleaned out!  It was a nice surprise!

I was looking for something else and found a package of 20 gauge brass wire which gave me the idea to try my hand at a YouTube

 I had seen on making this kind of jewelry! 

 It was just so much fun, I made three!

What can I say.....it is a very pleasing activity to randomly make squiggles and angles with the wire!

Forgive the rotten photo--the camera will not play with the flourescent light on my desk tonight but this is for the prompt COLLIDE--sometimes, done is well done!

Now this one was pure joy! 

 The prompt was MOON and the ideas were many. 

 Easy can be welcome.

 

Pre-Purple Cow Preparations

 I finished two pairs of socks for Aria from the socks I made her Mom!  The skeins of yarn are no more!

 I have been packing for the big sale at the fiber/vending event in Port Orange tomorrow.  I will be demonstrating my spinning and selling my yarn items as well as my soap and sea glass!

 I have everything inventoried and price tagged to make the sale easy tomorrow!

 I added some hardware to some of the sea glass-I will be wearing one myself!  I just didn't have enough time to make each one with its own fixings!  This will give me an idea if there is a market for more!  I do take orders from this sale so that is another possibility.

 I also started this when I was unable to get off the couch with this cold!  It has come at a most inconvenient time!  (Okay, a cold is never convenient....)

I am going to make three of these puppy hats for the three youngest members of the family!  I used the brand from Hobby Lobby called I heart this Cotton and it is SO soft!  This would be great for any garment and it does not have the rough feel of dishcloth cotton.   A nice surprise!

Early to bed tonight because we leave very early tomorrow morning to give us time to travel and set up in Port Orange!

Saturday's Gifts

I decided to try my hand at drilling my sea glass so I can make some jewelry with it!  I watched a ton of YouTube videos and then gave it a try!

I finally applied the right drill bit and it went through the glass like butter...almost!  It is a bit intimidating using the dremel in the water but with the right safety precautions, it works!  I see a whole new craft opening up for me!

 I also decided that the reason I didn't start the yellow and blue socks again ( I had two failures at working out the pattern) was because the colors didn't make my heart sing.

I am a dyer;  I dye!  And now I am singing at the new lime green and teal yarn!

 All my busies this morning were in anticipation of these visitors!

Ella played harmonica with Grandpa but when I whipped out the camera to snap the moment, she looked away!  Very cute to see her 'play' music!

 Another new adventure for Ella-using the walker to..........run!  She was so fast, my camera couldn't focus on her!

She gleefully yelled and laughed the whole time she ran and crashed through the room!  It was hysterical to watch!

Yes, she was very proud of her new skills!

Cassandra and I even got to try our hands at more glass work when Ella napped-I have her hooked on its use-she has just started to collect her own glass now that she is a beach resident!
