The blocks are all cut for the Christmas in July Jelly Roll Twist quilt--about 60" x 76" as is without borders.
Marsel worked on her Civil War reproduction fabric quilt. We took a drive to my local quilt shop to find a sashing fabric and bombed--the color was too dark or too light or too yellow or too brownish. She wants unbleached muslin and will wait to find it!
Meanwhile, I pieced another of her precut Tumbling Block quilts,
and another one....She will be layering them up and stitching them up for donations to her local senior home when she gets home.
And then we emptied my overfull 'solids' bin and weeded out pieces not worth keeping, ironed and folded and now I can find just the right color without tackling the erupting volcano of a bin!
Look how nice it looks now--no spilling out the top now!!! We had fun doing it-sorting, ironing and talking. It is so true that a chore with another more than halves the work!
And to close out the post, here's Maverick; ready to head to bed with his teddy.
All that fabric! So much potential!🪡 The Civil War reproduction is outstanding.
ReplyDeleteMaverick looks rather tired of the quilt talk. Hope he had a wonderful nap.
Shew!! you got a lot sorted and wow~~ it looks great. love your top too!
ReplyDeleteThat's a lot of things accomplished! It's always good to have a helper that knows what they are doing. I miss dad because he was always a big help. He was a natural when it came to the quilting thing. He says it was because he watched my great grandmother make hers. I wish I could have seen it .
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful visit you are having! Those babies are just adorable. I could squeeze them both. But then I would sneeze and cough and have to take allergy meds. LOL. Hope you are back to your normal and look forward to seeing the progress in your studio.
ReplyDeleteMarsel definitely inherited her sewing talent from you. Everything is so beautiful. I'm so glad that you've had a wonderful time with her, visiting and working.
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs,
Betsy
