FELINES AND FINISHES

The queen on her throne!
I don't use that pillow except to cover up the one I use each night, for obvious reasons! She sleeps next to me or at my feet each night,so I think she wanted to try it out when she could! lol
The Navy Blues quilt is now a top.  I will be getting the backing this Saturday so I will soon have it on the frame. First is the border.
Fresh out of the washer--the Shadow blocks
are now a completed quilt!
I am thrilled with it except for one little problem...
a bit of bleeding on any of the blocks with this fabric!  I will try washing it again with a Color Catcher and see if it helps!
If not, it is subtle and doesn't ruin the quilt.
And I began the four-patches--row one is done!

  1. That is why I keep my bedroom door closed. I've got terrible kitty allergies and they would just love to get right up on my pillows if they could in spite of having a house full of comfy kitty beds and hideaway huts.
That shadow box quilt is really pretty. I never thought about fabric bleeding. I know sock yarn sure does. That first wash is really scary especially when it's from an indie dyer.

  2. I'm to the point I just throw in a color catcher now. Too much risk. Lovely finish regardless!

  3. Do you wash them in the washing machine? I've only sewn three quilts and haven't washed a single one yet.
How long do you wash them for? I'm guessing 40 minutes on the wool or silk cycle with a low spin speed.
    Is that right?

  4. Navy Blues looks fabulous! Loving the four patches too.

I almost always wash the first wash with a colour catcher or two now. I've had a couple of disasters.

  6. Purrfect quilts and pillow tester. Lena looks so sweet and comfy. I've never used a color catcher. I hope it works for you, but in any case, you're right. It certainly does't ruin the quilt at all.
    Blessings and hugs,
    Betsy

  7. All beautiful, and I wouldn't have seen the bleeding. Hope the 2nd wash gets it out so you are happier with it! I love your cat on the pillow!!

  8. Lena always makes me smile. I think she found you just around the time Giroux found us.

    That blues quilt is spectacular!

PIECING CONTNUES

All of the four-patches are united into a top but the borders are just  pinned in place.  I hope to attach them today. I've also cut all...
