SLOW DAY FUN

Since we bought a new phone plan and IPhones now, I needed to paint a new insert for a new phone case!  I haven't played with watercolors in a long time and it was wonderful.
I added another page to my Landscapes journal from Kim--I have another layer to add but ran out of time since we needed the table to eat!  It rained today and kept us indoors but we played at Dotz, games and enjoyed the slower pace together.
Breakfast with this guy is a trip--just keep the food coming! lol

'Hats All Folks!

Lena helped me work at our knitting!

We managed to finish the first hat-
this would fit a male or female.
Here is is worn slouch-like.

Or with the ribbing turned up in a traditional winter hat.
This colorway is aptly called Firecracker!
The color would work for a guy which is good,
since the other two skeins are much more feminine.
Hat #2 is well on its way!  This skein is grey, fuschia and pink.
I like the yarn very much;  this one is named Cosmopolitan
I think it needs to be named Neopolitan--like the ice cream!
Line and Wash Watercolor of the day--Tibetan Lilies.

One of the art videos I watch, Charles Evans Art, said something very freeing to me,and that was to remember you are not painting a photograph-use your camera if that is what you want, but otherwise, paint what you want in the scene before you and leave out what you don't want!I have that confidence with the knitting and I am working on it for the painting, too!

A Sumptuous Saturday!

Everyone woke up cheerful this morning and Bill took the boys over for an early morning visit with our neighbors.
Which meant that I had a quiet early morning time in the studio!
I finished piecing the bow tie quilt and added the borders.
I loaded it right up on the frame and set to work.
Everything just fell into place which was so unusual!
I moved on to watercolor the second , vertical painting of the Sprague House.
And then while the first wash was drying, I cut out a bunch of the crazy colors blocks so I could grab a pile and piece it through the week.
The blocks are adding up.
I want to have 24 done by the end of the month.
I'm getting there!

When Bill got home with the boys-I was so refreshed and ready to start our day!
What a gift.

And now, in honor of Earth Day-this is the source of a great rotting stink in our front flowers.  It is just an amazing and disgusting mushroom,
It has a much more scientific name and a lot of disparaging ones, too.
Bill pulls them up and on a good day,
he gets them at their source-the round root if left in the ground,
will have another stinky mushroom up within days!
You can almost see them grow!
Be grateful there is no scratch and sniff screen.
These babies smell like the walking dead!

Broken Pieces and Stuffing!

This morning after the daily chores, I started to watercolor my latest drawing, a robin.
I hadn't gotten very far into the background when Lena jumped up and...
She flipped the plate I use for a painting palette!
Shattered.
There goes my quiet moment.
Good thing I love that little cougar! lol
My neighbor's little grand daughter needed a pillow for naptime at school.
I told her to pick out some fabric from Grandma's stash and I would make her one.
She loves pink and purple-she picked out a good print!
I put a zipper in so the cover could be removed, and I stitched her name on the back in the design line so it is 'named' as required by the school!

I made a simple stuffed muslin pillow form for inside;  this way if somehow the pillow outside gets dirty or sticky, it won't be a big deal for Grandma to wash it! lol
AND I loaded this quilt on for a second time because I had forgotten to piece the back with the extra two circle blocks.  Then I loaded it a third time when I put that said backing on the frame upside down!  Rookie mistake so I have no excuse!
Needless to say, it is now ready for me to work on it!  At last!

A TYPICAL DAY

Yesterday, I made several star blocks and started arranging the blocks on the design wall.  It's a very different array of prints  but I...
