LOST AND FOUND

Here's a family picture-my brother, sister, parents and me!
I began the day yesterday with a sad cindy moment!  I dropped my ring down the second floor register and heard it drop  A L L  the way down to the basement!  When it warmed up a bit (-13F is very chilly) the men headed down to the basement to look things over.  They tried snagging it from above and it didn't work.  So went down with the plan to open up the vent pipe.
They drew the 'trap door' mark to use the grinder to open it up...
then the battery died on the grinder.  They (my brother in law, brother and dad) ended up just unscrewing the pipe from the stringer and pulled it out of the other end and were able to find....
my ring (front left) and another ring we have never seen which is sterling silver, an initial ring with a V on the front!  The other items are just fun, too.  The other good thing they discovered after living in this house since 1970, that there was a damper to this heat register upstairs and it has always been closed--the upstairs is much warmer now! lol
This was the arctic-like scene we woke up to yesterday morning!  Brrrr!
But did it stop my Dad from bundling up and heading out to get the mail at 10am?  Not at all.
Mom and I worked on our mittens
to match the hat we made the other day.
I managed to whip off another hat-red on the inside and grey on the outside, or vice versa as desired!

Church by remote today!

MEMORIES

This photo is in my old bedroom where I am again sleeping-it is a four generation shot taken 44 years ago!
My Mom, me, my daughter and my grandmother.

There is something about going back to your childhood home to stir up memories!

Wet and Wild

Yesterday, I worked a bit on these while drying out from so much pool time!  Even gators like to dry in the sun on occasion! lol
I got all geeky and decided to keep to a pattern of colors-three colors and two places in the block to put them--the outer color is always dk grey and the second row is always the light grey.  That gives me 3 x 2 =6 different blocks to make.  I make a few of each and am trying to keep the block levels even but I am working sporadically to say the least....
My Washington girls are still on their time so they sleep in until 10 (7 their time) and my FL boys wake up at 7 our time!      First there was one....
and then there was 2!  Early morning snuggles are the best!
Our angel trumpet 'tree' is in full bloom!
Such a big and beautiful bloom with a mild sweet smell.  This was enjoyed on one of the golf cart rides!

I hope you have a good day-we will spend it with tons of family--

Travel-Arrival Finally

The saga continued (I missed my flight because I can't tell time right!) as we arrived at the airport
the second time;  there was a T-storm that delayed my flight!
Once in the air, we rose above most of the clouds but every once in a while, we passed a monster like this one!
There's no place like home, Dorothy....
 My Dad has flowers everywhere-
I inherited his love of growing...
I might tuck one of these into my bag to come home!
 And in the hibiscus family
to make me think of Florida,
a rose of sharon--my dad's row of them is beautiful!
And this is my sentiment from Mom-
on both levels!

Quilt Week-Daytona's Quilt Show

Our second annual trip to the quilt show was today!
It is held in a beautiful convention center and the space is huge and filled with everything quilt lovely!
Most of the quilts were in camera-free zones but we did have to do the selfie again this year!
Last year the main thing that struck us was the occurrence of many medallion quilts;  this year the recurring theme was to me-Hunter Star blocks!  I saw them large and miniature and tucked in sample quilts-since it is the most recent Accuquilt die I have purchased, I can't wait to put it to use!
I bought a few things-a pattern using a different paper piecing technique and a kitty inspired charm pack.
Oh, and I brought home this little portable sewing machine I have been eyeing online;  it was on show-sale pricing and I couldn't resist!
It weighs less than half my studio sewing machine!
It will be so much easier to take to classes or to Mom's for sewing days!
What a great blessing to have such an adventure with my Mom and to love being with her!

Go SU !

I am knitting away on this pair of socks that are Syracuse Orangeman colored for my Seattle son.
This pair of socks is taking longer than usual because he wears a size 16 shoe.
That is a lot of foot!
He loves my socks and I love him so it is a very worthwhile knit!

Another Goodbye

Matthew and Caleb are back to Florida after their visit to Jared in Seattle.  This means that Caleb came to collect his kitties.  I have enjoyed being a household of 6 cats!  I will miss the sweeties.  I also missed Caleb's visit because Dad and I took Mom to the doctors because she is in too much pain from the muscle spasms; we went from the doctors to a CAT scan so didn't get home until late.  Long day and no answers, just some more medicine to help with the pain.

JUST A LITTLE MATH

When something looked wrong while placing the setting triangles,  I looked at the photo on the front of the pattern and saw that I had place...
