SEE ME FLIT!

I made some letters on the Cricut--I know it doesn't look like it but these will spell WELCOME on a new sign.
I cut and painted the wood to make a porch sign for Autumn.  Ideas, you know.
I also cut this out and will be making a new sign for this, too.
I think looking at Kim's Crow stitching inspired me!
Lena just couldn't keep up with me today-I did a little bit everywhere and she gave up and waited for me to make my bed.  She missed my efforts there and I got to make up the bed without her help! lol

A PLAN B BOWL!

So the beautiful knobs and knots on the tree were 'freed' from the bowl when I began hollowing out the center.  I was so disheartened.  It took me a few days to get back to the project.
The bowl is pretty on its own
even if my original goal was a bit skewed.
I love the grain and the smoothness of the wood.
I was able to keep the bark on the top rim,
(called live edge) and the oval of the bowl is unusual.
The new bowl now holds my green rocks
which go with my new woven table runner.
Sometimes you just have to get used to a new idea
for it to be appreciated!
The bowl is 12" long and 7" wide, oak.

FLITTING LIKE A BUTTERFLY!

Here is a great link for understanding the stages
 of the Monarch butterfly!
I transferred the chrysalis into this large jar to await the big transformation!
And the towels are off the loom and on the table!
 The two towels are 24" x 11 1/2" and a 12 1/2" mat.
I did a bit of organizing and found this languishing shawl;  I have pulled it out and knit two twelve row repeats--I am on the decreasing side of the pattern so hope to get this out of the project bag and onto my shoulders!
(It's the Pimpelliese Shawl I started this in 2020-not too long ago!)
And if one wasn't enough, I found this one, too!  Unfortunately, this one didn't have the pattern in the project bag so I will have to try and copy what I have done with a bit of trial and error!  If you recognize it, please say so in the comments.  I will do a deep dive into the archives for my blog and see if I can find it!
(I did find that this is the Close to You shawl but it was buried deeply;  I started this in 2016!)

And I even worked on the inside of the bowl!  I have a few problems in the numerous cracks and will try to glue sawdust in them and see if that helps to make the cuts smooth going.

WOOD ON WEDNESDAY

Bill and I are building some tall  garden beds for my Fall planting (Florida has three growing seasons and summer is not one of them! lol)  We are using reclaimed boards from an old decking.  I drew some plans for a very basic outline and we set to work.  First we made the two ends.
The 2 x 4 will form the frame to hold the slats to make the bottom of the veg box which will be the last step!
He brought up the boards, we sorted them
and then began to pull nails and unscrew screws!
The saw horses are handy for cutting the boards to length!
Working on the ground is no longer pleasant!
This is where we ended yesterday, after a good day at quilting group!  Not bad considering I made a great meal of stuffed peppers Bill grew and served it with homemade bread
and a tossed salad!
We will tackle the last side and then the bottom of the bed today.  Now that the kinks are ironed out
and I have all of the measurements written down,
we will be able to make the second box in no time!
This is one of the things I did during quilt group yesterday!  (Forgive the stray threads--I didn't notice it when I took the pic!)
I am going to turn it into a hot pad!
(it is 6 1/2" square)

HOME ONCE AGAIN

I made all of these hexagons on the grueling drive home yesterday!  (2 skeins of HomeSpun yarn)I will add them to the 7 I had previously mad...
