Day Seven-Yacht Club

The McKees woke to a power outage due to a tree on the wires in town. Does misery like company-well they had 240 others that were without power this morning; we were not one of the bunch which sent them to our house a bit earlier than planned. We decided to take our boat ride at lunch time with a picnic cooler to graze from while we rode around. I failed my first mate's duty and left the River Map home .....grrrrrrrrrrrrr! We decided to stick to the route Bill and I took the other day so we wouldn't run into trouble but it ended up being so nice out, we all got adventurous and went where no Minota/McKee has ever gone before!
This is the bridge over Dunn's Creek a sight Bill and I have viewed for 2 decades and saying someday we will be down on that water.........today was the day and it was as good as we hoped-Bill says it will be even better when he brings along the fishing gear! It is good to have something to look forward to!

Abigail still preferred the cabin and loved it when she had her whole family with her inside out of the wind!

All the guys took turns driving the boat.............we decided that it would be very easy to be river rats...... In no time at all we were approaching the Palatka bridge which we explored a few months ago with my parents and found the boardwalk that goes under the bridge right over the level of the water. Now I can say that I have driven over it, walked under and now boated under it! No matter what the boys say, I am not going to jump from it! Those days are gone for good! What a surprise to find our favorite riverside restaurant so easily-and with an overwhelming consensus, we voted to eat lunch there and save our sandwiches for tomorrow! Not a hard decision to be unanimous about even though we almost couldn't stay because everyone had the same idea and the slips were all full--we got permission to dock at the end of the pier and figured out how to tie off and get out-all adding to the adventure of it all!

When we came back down the pier to get back in the boat, Abigail changed her mind about another boat ride and took a bit of convincing to get back in for the return trip! It is only an hour from their pier to our Welaka boat launch-a much shorter trip than we thought! This will be added to our monthly calendar of special events!
