The last of my family left this morning. I needed some serious therapy. Since I was up early for their departure, I sat right down in front of my spinning wheel and plied the Finn/Cashmere singles.
We are talking about some serious softness here-137 yards.
I next spun my hand carded FiberBinderClub sample for November, this is Bond fiber-very, very soft and squishy!
Next, I turned to the pile of fabric Marsel and I cut up yesterday for a baby quilt! The pattern is from the July/August '12 issue of Quiltmaker magazine.
Do I want it laid out like this..................?
Or like this?
I added the inner and outer boarders.
The top is all pieced..........
And even pieced the back! I like turning the sadness from the goodbyes into something positive.
I will be finishing this as soon as I schedule a trip to JoAnns for the batting!

Older Grandson has a book called "A Time for Everything". It starts: "There is a time for everything. Happy times when we say hello. Sad times when we say goodbye." Even he doesn't like that page and he's not yet three!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job of focusing on achieving something good and not wallowing!
What a lovely baby quilt!!! It just makes you happy to look at it.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the quilt has happy colours:) can't go wrong with butterflies for kids! and I am sure using your hands will give you back some good feelings despite the sadness! any plans for the handspun?
