The front yard looks like this; we have had several days that have started in the mid 30's. We try to spare the brunt of the cold from our favorite flowers. This morning was much milder and we should be able to remove all of the blankets. Another frosty temperature isn't expected for the next 4-5 weeks now!
The cooler temperatures finally give beautiful oranges and reds to the maples and to this one, a black cherry tree.
And at the same time, the farmers are cutting their last hay fields for a few months. It sure does look beautiful to see a freshly baled field.
The Black Cherry is so pretty. We are having milder temps this morning - 31 or so compared to 16 yesterday!
ReplyDeleteWe got another dumping of snow over night - I have to go dig out my boots and make sure my bird feeders are full. I can hear the jays yelling from my office!
ReplyDeletePlant blankets - Love that - Hope you like the cool, but that it doesn't hurt anything.
ReplyDeleteLucky plants to be some warm and snug in the cold. We had flurries this morning and that wind....wow. I guess I'm spending the day in the lower level.
ReplyDeleteThere is no way we could keep outside plants alive up here on the prairie. :-) It's been very windy and cold here but will get better eventually and we can't complain. We had a gorgeous and long-lasting fall.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Such a peaceful scene! The vibrant autumn colors and freshly baled hay are like nature’s gift before winter fully settles in. 🌾🍁 Glad to hear the frost is taking a break for now!
ReplyDeleteWe hit single digits last night and had a fierce windstorm! I was happy to just stay inside.
ReplyDeleteOur fall colors have disappeared and all the deciduous trees are mostly bare; we woke up yesterday to frost and everywhere, but today was a bit warmer and the sun was out.
ReplyDeleteI hope your covered plants escaped the frost. After the first three snowstorms, moderate temperatures have returned here in my corner of Wyoming. It has been a delightful Fall,
ReplyDeletegreat idea to cover the plants - I always forget, sigh.... hope they survived the frost! xx
