TAKING A DAY TRIP!

We had an adventure day!  We packed a lunch and headed out to Kelly State Park and when we got there, they were turning people away as they had hit capacity!  A quick search on Google and we found another Spring only 15 minutes away!  It was a very fun time once we got over the disappointment of the change!
This park is called Wekiwa Sptinhd State park.
The water is cold-but once you get over that, it was very refreshing!  It is deep all around the large limestone boulders so it is a welcome haven as you swim around
enjoying the crystal clear water!

Once we convinced Bill to get over the initial jolt of cold so he could enjoy the water, he did!

In fact, he thoroughly enjoyed searching for rocks on the bottom and collected quite a few!
We will identify these and make a display of them--what a wonderful family adventure!

Some Knitting in Georgia

I cleaned out my daughter's socks and tossed the ones with holes in the heels.  She can't bring herself to do this but I am ruthless.  Toss them and let me make some new ones!  She always wears through at the bottom of the heel.  It has to be something in her anatomy because no matter what yarn or what size needle I knit with, she develops the hole in the same spot.  So, I get to knit often for her-it works for me!
Today is her birthday....how appropriate to shower her with socks...the next pair is already on the needles!

STATS:  The yarn is Cascade Cherub DK which is an acrylic/nylon blend.  It feels like soft cotton.
I knit toe-up, cast on 12 sts with Judy's magic cast on, increase to 56 stitches and then do something fun up the side of the foot.

She bought this yarn at a LYS closing last year and has been saving it for a pair of socks-just call me the sock fairy!

This Week

The driveway is just alive with color-the azaleas are still brightening the yard!
This Kalanchoe Flapjack has recovered from last year's frosts and has grown to a mature size of 8".
Mom and I harvested the loofah-you have to peel all the skin off and then save the seeds!
We got a bushel basket full!  (The plastic baggie holds the seeds!)
The Fringe tree is putting out her flowers-it is officially Spring!
The Dogwood only had a few blossoms this year-way at the top!
I knit a pair of wrist warmers out of some alpaca-several more pairs to come as they really keep my hands comfortable!
Bill and Dad finished the shed!   They painted the floor yesterday.   They have to wait for it to try before they can move in the 'stuff'.  Bill will be painting the outside sheet metal to match the house later on but it will be finished soon!
The roses are liking the sunshine and warmer temperatures, too.   Here is this season's first bloom.
Blooming on the needles is a Craftsy project-a pair of EvergreenLakeMittens.  I know I won't be needing these mittens here but I thought I would mail them to my sister for Easter....

Beach and Babies Visit

We were supposed to have a combined grand babies birthday party in December but with everyone getting sick, we postponed it.  Well today was the day!
The ocean reflected the morning storm.   It was beautiful for us right after lunch and we had a wonderful beach hour.
Ella plops down and plays with the sand-she is content.
Will on the other hand had to explore.   The water was suspicious......
...the birds wouldn't let him catch them either!
One nice perk of the postponed celebration is that my parents were able to attend!
The kids were fully into the gifts and weren't bothered by all our laughing and encouraging instructions!  The rain moved in as it was time to leave-we had a wonderful time together again!

Interruptions...

So, the foot finally went beyond healthy.  Bill is admitted in the hospital for IV infusions of antibiotic cocktail to get rid if the infection settled in his foot.  They will be sending him home tomorrow ( we hope)  with a port to continue the meds for six more weeks.  Thank you , Lord, for medicine.....

Beauty

Early in the morning and late at night, I am getting a bit of sock knitting done.  I decided to put a cable up one side of the leg but hadn't brought a cable needle;  I am working with a bent Bobby pin!  Hey, it gets the job done!
Most of the day is spent with this sweet urchin!  She is enjoying a few minutes with Baby Einstien before bed.
We took a drive to see the sunset over the intercoastal waters at the northern end of the island.  The sand gnats kept us swatting but the wait was worth it:
Beautiful!

Sharing the Waiting

Here is the jokester, Caleb, posing with his wife........I love the expression on her face!
This was at the baby shower on Saturday.  We got home late and then I had a disagreement with the fast food we ate on the way home and didn't get to post this sooner!
On Monday, I painted this 12" ten foot long board for a shelf over my quilting frame.
This morning, I sewed another purse organizer and then put up the shelf with Bill's help.
So much fun to organize and display all my 'old' sewing notions!

A DAB OF PAINT

I am enjoying the acrylic paint-by-number projects.   As with most things, the second one (the bottom one)  was much easier to do;  I have...
