The table runner is finished!  Nice to see the interlocking rings!

And I am all packed up for a QOV Sew Day today at our local quilt shop-it's gonna be a good day!

(my grand daughter is home and recovering from her surgery-she says it is nice not to be in pain and throwing up!)

 

ANOTHER TABLE RUNNER

I put the binding on the New Year's table runner

 (the black and gold  one) and decided to use some Christmas fabric to make one with the same pattern.  The triangles along the side were too much like the fabric I fussy cut in the middle so I took them off the design board and tried a different print.

Ah, yes!  The red plaid was just the contrast it needed!  

I added the borders and then the piecing began!  Everything went smoothly and soon it was ready for the frame.

I did have to piece a backing because I made this runner a bit longer than the pattern suggests.  It is basted in place and I will do the stitching tomorrow in between kitchen work--I have a houseful coming and we do like to eat!!!

 

A FINISH

I cut and applied the binding onto the table runner finally. 

 I bought enough fabric to bind this and the latest QOV quilt which I will bind today!  This runner is 23" x 54".

I'm still enjoying the two color dishcloths;  I am making the Center Double Decrease Square or the Mitered Square in the orange and blue variegated, carrying the yarn at the right side. 

 

JUST IN TIME

I didn't get the bowl finished for a post today,

though I have continued to work on it!  

BUT I did get the July table runner done  by the first!  I love the pop of patriotic colors when I walk through the dining room!

 

A FINISHED OBJECT!

The tulip runner is completely completed! 

 That feels good, let me tell you!  

I might take long to make a 'quick' project 

but at least I am beginning to' make' again!

Today, I am meeting my friend, Mary, for a quilt show

 at our local quilt shop!  

 

I DID IT!

I loaded up the table runner and worked on it throughout yesterday.  I cut out the binding and stitched it on only I sewed it to the wrong side so I had to finish the binding by hand--no longer an easy job for me!  (I sew my bindings on and have for years but obviously I forgot what I was doing!)

But even with the binding delay, I had the runner done by bedtime last night!  This is my first pieced/quilted project of 2025! 

 (and the first in 4+ months!)

 

EARLY MORNING VISITORS

Aren't they beautiful birds?! 

 The Sandhill Cranes  are tall--48-50" each. 

 Their chatter is beautiful and their songs, while a bit boisterous, are incredible, too.  They come up to get some cracked corn to warm up after our chilly mornings lately!  

I stitched all of the blocks together and then had the less-than-thrilling job of ripping all of the paper away from the blocks.  Now if I had used the special paper available in pads for foundation paper piecing, which comes out in the wash, this step could've been skipped but I used thin copy paper.

Here is the pile of paper I ended up with--about 8" high! lol

And most of it peeled away very nicely.

I'm pleased with the results.  

I added some left over 2" strips for borders. 

 The final dimensions will be about 24" x 34" after I layer it up 

and load it on the machine for quilting!

 

IN THE STUDIO

A friend came over yesterday with an alteration project 

and once I set her on the right course, I tried to do a bit of cutting out using the Accuquilt and some Autumn fabrics.

I was able to cut out some small tumbling blocks which will eventually form a table runner!
