Celebration!

Today we enjoyed a lunch at our favorite 'deck' at Corky Bells on the St Johns River!
There was still a lot of sanitizer and disinfectants but we at a meal out and it was wonderful!
Warm and not humid--what a treat!
Bill turned 69 today.
We laughed and laughed at the thought of being in our 60's;
sorry but it is a wonder to us.
The little gator has grown since were here months and months ago!
I began quilting the vintage paint brush churn dash quilt on the frame--splashes of paint!
A design by Beany Girl Quilts called Drip!  Perfection!
And the socks did get finished though
they need wet blocking to get rid of the side 'seams'
where the magic needle leaves a line.
Wool is much more forgiving than cotton
because it has more bounce but these will wet block perfectly!
Very comfortable and a fun knit!
Thank you, Jessica!!

On the Sea with the C's

We got to see Caleb and Cassandra for the day!  Of course, a boat ride was in order for this gorgeous day!
So many gators to spot-small 6' ones and.......
.........large 9' ones, too.  See him smile?!
There were so many birds-this is an osprey skimming the water just ahead of us.
This was a flock of egrets over the St Johns River.
The creek was so calm and enjoyable to boat.....the lake was very choppy and not as pleasurable but it is always a good day out on the water!  We had a wonderful lunch at Corky Bells and ended the day with a swim and then a rousing game of Wahoo!

A Day to Play

We took a day off today and went for a boat ride!

My parents have never been boating in Florida so it was about time! Here they are on board with the Palatka bridge in the background; we had just finished a great lunch at Corky Bells restaurant.
This gator smiled for my camera shot-we saw quite a few along Dunns Creek today. Yes, he is sunning himself on a log.

The water level is still up from all the rain from tropical storm Fay-about 4 feet deeper which means that the creek was about 40 feet wider than usual as well as deeper, the lake was a lot deeper and many of the docks were underwater. Very interesting to see the changes. The area where we launch the boat is under water, too.......we had to use a different dock so I didn't ruin my sneakers!
I finished spinning 2 skeins of the alpaca fiber. So far I have about 600 yards of fine yarn. This will be a shawl when I am done carding, spinning, dyeing and knitting it..........this will be dyed something in the red family......
