INSIDE AND OUT

The piecing of the blocks is finished with the sock monkey quilt but today I will add the sashing.  I'm not sure how I will do it--grey with red cornerstones, beige with red or maybe grey?
You will see what I decide tomorrow!
Bill rolled the new tool cart to the garage for me where I cleaned out the many places where lathe tools resided and put them all in this one place!  The other shelf by the lathe was open so every time I worked, I covered all of the tools with sawdust.
Now, if I remember to shut each drawer,
I will keep everything clean and tidy.
The chest has a lidded top section, too.
Now to get back into working on the lathe again.
The piece on the lathe now was when I played around with Eli.
I don't know if it can be a vase or not but I will try.
We've gotten pretty good at spotting a gopher tortoise from afar.  He was out to nibble the green grass growing over our drywell!
Isn't he a handsome fellow?!

  1. I love that you used the sock monkey colors for your blocks — it adds a nice layer of fun! I love seeing the gopher tortoises…but seeing him all covered in sand made me very glad I don’t live in a hole in your backyard!!

  2. That quilt just keeps getting better! I love everything about it, the color, the stars-everthing.
My that is a big turtle. We usually have box turtles roaming around but I haven't seen one yet this spring.

  4. That quilt is just so fun! I love all of the colors you've chosen to keep it in the sock monkey theme.
The turtle is great too. And big! I haven't seen a turtle "in the wild" in years. Maybe now that we're back in Nebraska I'll see one by the lakes. I used to play with them, frogs and tadpoles as a little girl.
And now you're all ready to start using your lathe again. Tools all at the ready! I really like that cobalt blue color. You won't lose it! :-)
    Blessings and love,
    Betsy

  5. What a fun quilt that will be! Nice work on storing all those tools. How fun to see a turtle in your yard; around here we are happy to see a squirrel and sometimes a deer. Both of those critters like to dine on the spring flowers though.
