A DAY IN DAYTONA BEACH!

It was time for the quilt show--it has been two years since Mary and I were able to go!  What a wonderful time;  I met up with several friends and even got to meet a blog friend!
 It was a super day!
This quilt was my favorite and was very indicative of this year's entries!  A lot of threadwork and applique.
There was a huge selection of patriotic quilts by QOVF and
I could've taken a picture of everyone of them!
This one had a very cool border that I admired!
This one reminded me of my daughter who loves birch trees!
This is a very large quilt and it was so realistic,
I could've stepped right in and could almost smell the old forest!  There was a man and two dogs on the trail toward the bottom that shows the scale of the towering trees!
This was a t-shirt quilt done in a very clever 3-D block format--
all from Harley shirts!!

The details on this quilt were amazing--
not to mention it would be a great fantasy destination!
We went on an adventure for lunch--it was only a few blocks from the quilt's Convention Center and I hadn't been there in 9-10 years so it was where we went even though the construction on A1A made the .3 mile journey and adventure itself!  Joe's Crab Shack has been there since 2012 but the building has been there since 1918! Many of the building/hotels that I remember were right next door are gone from Hurricane Matthew damage 9 years ago!
The beach wasn't crowded but the waves and the sea air was a delight to savor!

WHERE I'VE BEEN!

Thursday I went with a friend to an absolutely excellent plant nursery!  We enjoyed the many garden areas and bought several plants to commemorate the day! All of the plants are started and grown by them for our planting zone 9 , all native plants , so they are all success stories!
This is an ever bearing cherry tomato plant--for Bill who loves them and will enjoy keeping this one alive for his own tasting pleasure!
I bought myself a Soap Nut tree-I don't know everything about it yet, but it grows nuts which are used as a soap-I've got a lot of learning to do before this starts to grow its fruit!  It will grow up to 30' tall-we will have to find the right spot for it!
This little guy is a guava tree and will produce fruit next year!  It will be in the new grove we have started in our side yard!
And yestereday, Mary and I went to the Daytona Beach AQS  Quilt Show!  What a great day!
There were many quilts which caught my attention but this is one I will actually make!  A QOV, of course!  Today I will be home (phew) and will sew on the latest quilt to get it off the design wall and into a top!

AQS QUILT SHOW

Mary and I had quite a time at the show in Daytona Beach!  There were so many fine piecing quilt kits and lots of cross stitch and embroidery kits , too at the many vendors..
This quilt resonated with me....Shattered is its title.  It is a bit how I feel--I had a setback with my right hand;  the tendon to my thumb ripped so I am unable to move my thumb.  It happens to 1-2% of the people who have this kind of break.  It is nice to be one of the special ones.  Surgery will take place next week.. We started out late to the show because we had to go the the hand drs first.  Mary went with me, rolling with the circumstances and supporting me all the way!  We laughed,  cried and headed to the show.  Now you know why I identified with this quilt!
This one was very cool!
I liked the Spring colors against the grey of this one.
What's not to love about this couple?!
I am going to try this one---not hard, just needs a bit of planning!
Marsel, daughter, this one would look good in your family room!
Janette, Mom, this one would've been your favorite because of the jolt of blue!
This one is all solid fabrics but the quilting gives it much more texture and dimension!

This is made of varying widths of strips of fabric jjoined with 45^ angles...very cool yet calm!
And here are the happy quilt viewers!!

INSPIRATION TIME!

My  quilting friend, Mary, and I are headed to the AQS Quilt Show in Daytona Beach today.  Mary broke her arm and shattered her shoulder in December and I my wrist in January so being deprived of our sewing time together, we planned this outing as something to look forward to , to get us through the barren days!  Today is the day!
I finished the Marisol sweater by Berroco that I started before the wrist saga;  it has flown off the needles this last week so I could wear it today!  Made with Berroco Summer Sesame yarn in the color 5236 on #5 and 7 needles.
I will be knitting this again--it was that interesting to knit!
In the yard, the amarylis are all in bloom with dozens of stalks
 still in bud!  Just beautiful!

TANGLED THREADS!

So daughter decided to empty some old yarn bins  for us to detangle and sort for usability. We matched up colors and got to work. We put her...
