ALL IN A DAY!

I enjoyed piecing the puzzle blocks--very straight forward and no seams to match so that was nice!  Then I loaded this quilt--it's Mary's and she will be coming back to quilt it this week.

I've wanted to do this for quite a while and yesterday was the day!  We cut the plywood on the table saw and then I began sanding, painting and repeat to get it ready to use as a table extension for my sewing table!

It has a leg underneath that supports it when extended!  It will hold the weight of quilts when adding binding and might even hold the ironing pad for ease in piecing blocks!

I then spent several hours in the garage helping Bill do some more cleaning out.  While there, I finished sanding this cute little project--it is a squirrel, yes, but it is to push pans into the oven  under his chin and when you turn it over, it will pulls pans toward you with his ears!  Nifty, isn't it?!

Bill had a ton of  stuff piled on the table saw so my project instigated a cleaning binge!  We found a ton of floor space!

This door hasn't been opened in years--how cool is that?!

Oh, and to discourage more piles....I added a helpful note!  

This afternoon we got a huge T-storm which dropped 4 inches of rain on us!  In an hour!  See the white pipe-it was pouring that much water off the roof gutters!  We didn't loose power which was good --we enjoyed the break from our work!

 

CONNECTED!

By late morning, Bill had the lathe wiring finished 

and I was able to turn it on!  So exciting!

I had a lot of 'stuff' to find homes for and a lot of cleaning up to do but first I did a bit of playing!

I just put the mess out of my mind and played!  Very unlike me but I have waited 6 months to actually use this lathe!

I loaded a branch and began turning it and had a wonderful time!

And then the end cracked and the rolling pin I was making is going to have to undergo a transformation into a narrow vase! 

(there was a crack on the end of the log and I had hoped it wouldn't be a problem-wrong!  Sigh.)

After I had some fun, it was time to get to work!  I ended up cleaning it all up and Bill even took the junk away for me!  Oh, and he had to do all of the rearranging for me--I have the ideas and he has the brawn--what a great combination!

We have a fancy late-comer, another amaryllis is in bloom!  

So pretty!

And right next to it, the hibiscus has put out a bloom! 

 They look as happy as I am!

 

BANGING AROUND!

I cut a bunch of pieces of wood 

to put in shelves in that storage closet.

A level, a drill, a bit of paint and I have two more shelves 

which are just what I needed

 to get things off the floor and out of the way!

Now the closet is clean and neat while it still holds 'things'.

Like old quilts, a rollaway bed, and stuffies, for example!

While I was banging boards in the closet, 

Bill was doing some electrical work-he had to cut through my sewing room wall where a panel box lives-through to the garage where a new panel box is going in! 

 And then the conduit leads up across the garage trusses and down the other side....

....where a new panel box is going in for the plug for my new lathe-I just might get to introduce myself to it this Friday!

We took a golf cart ride out to the pond-

isn't it pretty reflecting the setting sun colors?

Look what is lurking in the pond-yup,

 Bill is happy about its visit-me , not so much!

 

Northern Visitation

My brother and his wife are driving my parents south for the winter and were to arrive today around dinner time..................what to do to make the time go faster?!

Keeping with my January theme of "clean it out, finish it or toss it.." I took the big box of flannel fabric and cut it all up into usable 6" squares and tossed the scraps. I just have to decide if I am going to make a raggedy edge quilt or the traditional kind for the 2 baby quilts I now have fabric for?!

We bought 4 new shelves for Bill's garage and so I decided to put them together.......Bling was a lot of help as usual! I got two done when they called to say they were just 20 minutes away!

We rushed over to their place to be the welcoming committee! Shared a meal and much conversation! Welcome to the south family!
