Where Are You?

Recliner time won out yesterday;  I'm not railing against those days any more.
They happen but at least I can knit, paint and connect with friends.
The second sock sped off the needles as the heel is turned and I have started the k3p1 rib up the leg.  We are spending some time in the car today
as we do errands so I will make a lot of progress up the leg I predict!
This is an old framed photo my youngest son took while in school for a photo contest.
The view is from the side yard of our farm in NY.
In my memory, the farm remains intact;  the place where I raised 4 children,
saw two of them off-one to marriage and one to the Air Force.
This photo is a treasure to me because the tree is gone, the barn is gone and so is the silo
BUT
in my memory, it still looks like this!
A wonderful chapter of my life.
Yes, the picture yesterday was of Betsy's entrance to her home;
if you wonder what Betsy is like-the welcome sign says it all!
Today, is a postcard painting from a photo taken on an overseas trip one of you took last year.
 Have fun figuring it out!

Memory Lanes

I dug this out of the hope chest just to see how it was holding up.
My maternal grandmother sewed this for my Mom when she became pregnant with me.
This qualifies as an antique now that means!
My Mom gave these to me when I was pregnant with my firstborn, my daughter.
This was when women tastefully draped their clothes over their burgeoning forms.
(I am not fond of the present absence of maternity clothing, can you tell?! lol)
These blouses are treasures to me!
When my parents go back north , they bring left over food to us.
Anyone ever eat canned frosting on graham crackers?
I thoroughly enjoyed it!
(And so did the boys!)

FO Friday

I took the Geology Shawl off the needles!   I have the shawl soaking now while I whip up some dyes to paint on the different regions (texture areas) to represent Florida soil!
I am researching differing layers on Google for our soil because all we see is light sand, darker beige and light brown;  I want to know if there are different colors down deep!
Then I remembered we have our very own soil peek when we dug our pool!   So I dug through the old blog pictures and found this but it already had the backing fibers in place and you couldn't see the layers!
Then Bill thought of going back and finding a picture from when we dug our water line to the house.

That was a good idea and it was fun to look back through old pictures!
This one is a great example of our soil and it included my much loved TommyCat who is no longer with us .  (2008)
So finding this on the web and using the memories of the different digging projects, I now have an idea of what colors to mix up for the dyes!
I hope to have a finished shawl to show tomorrow!

PUMPKINS AND DOE

I crocheted two Plushie yarn pumpkins;   one for my daughter and one for me.   I like having a connection! I managed to catch a shot of the ...
