JUST GARTER STITCH LOVE

Kate of The Last Homely House says this pattern for homespun yarn is not really a pattern because you just cast on 1 or 3 stitches and then increase in the first and last stitches of every row until you run out of yarn!!!!  So I used the yarn I had just spun last month which is 200 yards of DK weight in Merino/Silk blend.  I used a #9 needle and used all but about 25" to make this scarf!
It is so soft!  Just right to keep your neck warm when the weather hits a chilly spell again with lots of rain!
(That is If I was up and about which I am not! lol)
I walked to my raised bed garden and picked some radishes and baby green beans!  I chopped them up and put them in a salad for lunch.  Since my stomach has been tender, I used a mild vinegar/oil dressing and enjoyed it immensely!

PREPARING FOR THE FREEZE

No, I have not opened a Plant Nursery!
We would cover the sensitive plants if there was temps predicted for the 30's but since they are saying we will get three-four nights in the low 20's, we are trying
to save as many as we can!
Bill spent most of yesterday moving plants in, covering the ones too large and trying to  save the fruit that is ripe on the trees-oranges,, tangerines and grapefruits!
They can handle an occasional drop into the 30's
but this will be a strain on the trees and fruit!
I worked on the lathe-putting the many layers of finish on the bowl and sanding between each.  Very calm work!

I knit a scarf with the little handspun leftover balls- (which I found cleaning out the yarn bins!)-it is 6' long!
Thank good ness for the Sentro knitting machine--this is double-layered and going to be needed this weekend!
I also made some hats to send to family!
I plan on sitting in front of the fire tonight!
I hope you are keeping warm, too!

INTERMISSION!

Yesterday was a long day but very productive!  The laughter and fellowship of women working together is wonderful!  I was pretty sore and came home right to bed! lol  A bit later I added the last rows to the hat and scarf on the Sentro 48.  I have a bit of work to finish the ends of the scarf and then I will toss them into the washer/dryer!  And they will be ready to gift!  I used LionBrand's Basic Stitch yarn, it is a #4 weight but a soft, smooth yarn nothing like RedHeart.  Don't hesitate to buy this acrylic yarn for any item you could find to knit!
I have the whole day to recuperate and then tomorrow is another work day at church--I am on flower planting duty!  Exciting stuff.  I've always liked Fall cleaning better than the usual Spring cleaning!

STARS AND STRIPES

No, I didn't do the binding on the two quilt!  Instead, I worked on the mystery QAL from Alycia and now I have 4 stars pieced and the rest of the units ready to make the remaining blocks.
And then I felt like some knitting....and used some yarn I ripped out from an old project ; I had started to make a scarf and gave up on but it is now a 6' scarf which is 8" wide.  I still need to wash and dry it to make the side on the left smooth out because that is the re-used yarn.  I am in the process of making a hat to match.

The weather is supposed to break today and if it really happens, I will go out to the garage and play at the lathe for a bit!

A NEW LEASE ON LIFE

Today marks the one year 'anniversary' of my brush with death from Septic Shock due to a misdiagnosis of appendicitis!  It has been ...
