WOOD ON WEDNESDAY

Yesterday was our first fire of the season!
I enjoyed the slow and warm waking up hour!
It was warm soon enough and I enjoyed working on the lathe.
The honey dipper is sanded, finished and removed now!
This one will go to a friend who is a beekeeper!
My rendition of poinsettias in watercolor on another card.
The afghan is waiting for the next lesson!
It was a very enjoyable border this time!
The afghan is now 48" square.

CITRUS

The quilt went together easily on my sewing machine yesterday.
I am quilting it in a simple meander.
The humidity has given up its hold on us and it was pleasant to work at the lathe.  I managed a thin handle on this one and think I will go be going back to the lathe with the other ones to give them a slimmer look, too.  Here's hoping! lol
And when I was tired and ready for some recliner work, I made these four coasters with scraps of dish cloth cotton.
 It was a pleasant activity!

GOOD START TO THE WEEK!

Our quilting group is meeting again every Monday, I am glad to say.   It is so nice to meet with other quilters!!!  Unfortunately, my portable machine misbehaved and I had to sew the seams a second time and some a third before I figured out what the problem with the bobbin thread was!   I was able to laugh instead of cry because there were friends nearby!
When home, I finished the front honey dipper out of oak from my daughter's tree so it is going to her!  I can't wait to make another;  it is fun to play with different designs!
And I have a commercial to do for you---I ordered these crochet hooks from Amazon hoping they would be easier for me to hold because the place for you thumb is soft yet the hook is still made of metal.  Well, they are wonderful!  I'm so glad I have bought this set which comes in this little bag with a few other accessories.  If you are looking for an upgrade, here is the link.

SLOW SATURDAY

The QFK's quilt is off the frame!
I did it in a simple meander panto that doesn't compete with the fabrics.  The binding will happen today.
Instead of doing the binding yesterday, I made another honey dipper out of the spalted oak.  It sanded beautifully in spice of being very dry wood.  I did chip out one of the rings but it will still work-I will gift it to my daughter since it is from her oak tree!

THREE SMILES!

I can't believe it but I finished my king-sized coral/brown quilt!
I laid it out on the floor and trimmed it all the way around
and today, I will be putting the binding  on!
I can't wait to see it on my bed!
I made another honey dipper-this one from a Crepe Myrtle branch.  I didn't make the narrow part as narrow this time and changed the shape of the handle, too.
 This 'fits' more comfortably!
I also moved the center over so that the pith wasn't the main line of the neck wood--this makes the handle stronger.
(you can see the dark streak along the side of the neck instead of at its center. )
I can't wait to make another one today.
Isn't this a pretty block!?!
It is from Hooked by Robin and is very easy to memorize.
But like Lays potato chips,
you won't be able to make only one! lol

WOOD ON WEDNESDAY

I took one of the branches from the wood pile and started a new project today.  I have wanted to try to make a honey dipper!
The Magnolia wood is so light and pretty!
I had it shaped in no time and began the pleasurable part
 which is the shaping!
And it went well until it didn't!  All part of the game....

I didn't want to waste the beginning 'bulge' and turned it into a Christmas tree light!  I hope to make a lot of these so the kids can paint them as ornaments for their trees!
My second attempt went much better but I used a different wood-this is Black Walnut.  I think it will work out just fine.  I have already started a second Magnolia branch one-here's hoping!
Yesterday's prompt--CONNECT--
I just had fun with a bit of drawing! lol

A TYPICAL DAY

Yesterday, I made several star blocks and started arranging the blocks on the design wall.  It's a very different array of prints  but I...
