I had to search (slog!) through tons of patterns to find this!
I didn't want any modern versions that looked more like cowls
than the flat and hip dickey of 50 years ago!
I thought I would knit this for my dad
who is staying in NY this winter
instead of making the trek to warmer climes here in the south.
Since the temps have been in the teens,
I think he could use the extra layer of love!
There were a few adjustments since my yarn is different, of course,
but it didn't take long using their gauge info.
I might even try to do one side on the knitting machine!
That's why I'm going to knit Fletch a cowl! He wears some dickeys, but decided he would like a cowl that buttons - so he can open it partially if he wishes.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, I remember them well - a good way to add warmth without the bulk of a sweater. I wore them in the 70s.
ReplyDeleteI do remember those!
ReplyDeleteI LOVED those . Great find
ReplyDeleteExtra warmth is a good thing! I just caught up with almost a month’s worth of your blog posts — it is nice to be caught up. It is fun to see the Swedish Lines shawl in a different color scheme!
