PILLOW TALK!

Two new pillows to brighten up the family room! 

 I've been in a mood to finish projects that are cut out and waiting for me!  (This is our old cat who is blind, who recognized a new smell and had to check it out!)

I quilted the fronts of the pillows and then made some thin piping.

Next came the zipper and sewing it all together!  

I used a 20" pillow form to stuff it.

The invisitible zipper allows it to be laundered easily 

and it is also, well, invisible so it is a comfy pillow!

 

Just Look for the Rainbow!

We had quite a treat last night;  

a surprise downpour while the sun was shining so brightly 

which resulted in a rainbow in our own yard--both ends!

  It was so bright and lovely!

  I've never seen a rainbow with both ends so clearly defined in such a short span!

I finished the pink butterfly quilt and loaded on the Ohio Star kitties and will begin that today!  

I do have to bind all of the other quilts 

and will post proper pictures when I am completely done with them!

I was digging in the stash for some binding fabric

 and instead  found these pillow prints and decided to turn them into the real thing! 

 They are a heavier fabric and gave just the right change in mood for this room!  

A zebra...

...leopards, a smaller pillow made of the same fabric as the back of the panel ones and

a pair of elephants and finally, 

a lion!  They are large pillows, 16" x 20" and stuffed with polyfil.

To prove I am still knitting, I have one finished one sock

 and am about ready to begin the gusset in the second.  

These are with the yarn, Muse, in colorway, Impulse. 

 I am liking the yarn so much, I am playing with the idea of knitting a sweater out of it!

  Of course, I chose some sharks teeth!  

These are the most common ones on the Florida beach where I've found them. 

 It was a good study in using so many grays and browns!  

 

To Pair a Pillow

 The embroidery has become a pillow!

This covers a pillow that has become outdated in the fireplace room.

The second pillow will be made from this embroidery that was done yesterday.

The truck is stitched in the colors of our own 'lot truck' my kids drove 

while growing up on our farm in NY.  

A different color might have gone better in its new room but I needed the memory more!

Pillow(s) of the Month

I tried hard to make a pillow-a-month

as Will asked me to do way back

in January of the new 2019 year!

I missed the Fall 3 months,

even though I had purchased the design

for each of the months of

September, October and November!

But here is December's pillow

and I made 2!

Patriotic Results

 I had to dig deeply, but I found some short navy strips which I pieced 

but managed to eke out enough

to make the outer border for the lap quilt.

Nancy, you will recognize the center portions--I only have one left to use up!

(I will surround that one last panel with lots of star blocks 

for a  medallion style quilt near Veteran's Day!)

I used a star and banner panto pattern to quilt this in red/wh/blue thread
when I needed to stretch after doing a lot of spinning!

While I was working at the frame,
the embroidery unit was on the sewing machine so I could make this:

since I was behind on the July pillow project!

And at the end of the day,
I had a completed lap quilt-
even bound with a bias striped binding!
A very fitting end to this patriotic weekend!

Filled with Fluff

Two embroideries have become two pillows!

We stopped at the pier after we picked up Will from school.

There were ladyfish that did some incredible jumps much to our delight!

And there was a small plane that landed and took off from the lake several times-

very fun to watch!

And for much of every afternoon-this is my view as I chase after both energetic boys!

Marching In!

In keeping with the theme of a new pillow a month, 

this month we honor the Irish among us!

I have included a bit or orange in the embroidery to address the way the Catholics (green) 

and the Protestants (orange) have decided to work together in the last decade 

because they are all sharing the same island-the Green Isle, in fact.

It's been good for me to have my interest piqued about the history of this country 

first by Victoria on Masterpiece Theater

and secondly from  a recent-to-me episode of Rick Steeves about Ireland.  

I suggest you take some time this month to enlighten or refresh your own education about this beautiful Country, Ireland!

The Love Month

 Will told me that for this month I needed heart pillows because this is the love month.

 This one is his favorite.
Because he has love in this family.
His newly arranged family.
And this looks strong.

This is one of my favorite hymns and I love to have it set where I can see it everyday!
What a nice way to celebrate love.
