WED/TH CATCH-UP

I did finish the Christmas table runner and

the New Year's table runner in between

 all of the food prep on Wednesday.

Here's proof I can bake pies, even if I only do it once a year!!!

After dinner, we did our usual shooting and I blew up an old stove by shooting the container of tannerite inside the oven! 

 Real country fun. 

 The kids did shooting, tractor rides and climbing trees.

Our house was full of grand-pups, too.

 I have so much to be grateful for, even through the pain of the last few months;  family, friends near and far and those I know only through your blogs!  No matter how you spend the day, 

with many or a chosen few,

A PERFECT THANKSGIVING!

and in record time had the candy gone!

After dinner, clean-up and some target practice with some firearms, the ladies settled down for some crafting time!  We mixed our glob of acrylic paint with some backing soda and then applied it to some odds and ends of vases to  make the glass look like pottery!  It was very relaxing!

Just before evening settled, we explored for the annual finding of the Indian Pipe fungi! We were not disappointed!

(I am late in posting this because I have a new laptop, a Chromebook, and I cannot for the life of me get my IPhone and the laptop to communicate so all of my photos are stuck out of reach!  I finally gave up and went to bed last night and this morning, really gave up and did it on the old laptop! lol)

 

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU!

As we gather around our table today for a Thanksgiving feast, know that you will be included in my list of things for which I am grateful for throughout the year!

I know you are aware of having the same lot # for your projects but even so, it is no guarantee it will result in two identical skeins!

Case in point--look how different these two dishcloths are even tho each skein was marked as the same dye lot!  I'm not going make a sweater where it would matter but I did find it interesting!  If you haven't tried the new Crafter's Secret cotton from Hobby Lobby, I would recommend it because it has a wonderful hand for cotton yarn!  It is soft yet firm and because it is made with 4 strands of different colors, it sure gives a depth to the knitted/crocheted fabric!  I am using the four of these I have made for hot pads for our dinner today and then will used them for dishcloths during clean-up!

 

THANKSGIVING

Our day yesterday went off without a hitch-

very relaxing and filled with laughter and love.

(proof that I can bake-pies are a once a year event! lol)

THANKFUL DAY!

All the baking is finished and the meal prep is done so that tomorrow can be stream-lined to give us the most time to enjoy the get-together part of a big meal!  I even had time to sit and do some knitting on the newest block .  This one was a tough one;  it has a 40 row repeat and is not intuitive but that just made we want to stick with it so that I could get results like this!  What a good knit!

THANKSGIVING

It was an amazing day of preparation yesterday.

Today, I count my blessings and give thanks to God for all parts of my life!

May you have a day fun of thankfulness, too!

Such a Good Time

We spent the first part of the day preparing this meal.  Enjoyed eating and telling stories and then cleaning up!  

This is youngest son and family with Bill and I.  It was so nice to have a relaxing afternoon.

The kids did this a lot of the day-the had pirate accoutrement (I took the pic too soon) and their imaginations are alive and well!  

After the kids finished while the adults watched, we did some motorized fun!  Even I enjoyed this ride because there was no fear of falling!  What a blast! We finished out the day with a good movie (the Black Stallion) and snuggles-we all dropped into bed! 

Today will be some more relaxing and crafting for Cassandra and me, swimming for kids and some odd jobs for Bill and Caleb to share-guy style!  (meals you say--leftovers are on the menu! lol)

A Special Day

I have so much to be grateful for this year.  Yes, this year with its many challenges.  I survived Toxic Shock and pneumonia and recovered fully.  Bill was in a collision that totaled our car but he has only minor injuries.  My parents both had a trip to the hospital in the ambulance but recovered and were soon home.  My youngest son fell off a roof and had a car accident later in that month and was able to recover almost 100%. Those are just the headline kind of experiences...there are so many blessings daily I can't count them all!

It's been a good year for the artwork.  I can almost smell the horses in this barn....

This is a great reminder for my on the days when I have more pain than smiles!

I 'm working away on the second sock but I keep being distracted with the lathe zone!  See the bowl?  It's completed and the best one yet!  (5 1/4" wide and 2 1/4" tall.

I mean, look at this perfect bottom!  It is camphor wood with oil and wax for the finish.

I have family here-youngest son and family and middle son is here.  There is laughter and joy.  The essentials.
