DOTZ CARDS

The first card is done with the diamond dotz enhancement.
The card is 5 x 5".
I picked a flower,a bird and a butterfly card to work on!
They require a shorter amount of time
and just right for what we need!

PLAYING AROUND

We are working on this Dotz project.  It's fun to work together on it!
At my sister's house, next door, we had a wonderful grilled dinner and enjoyed watching the my niece and her children in the pool!
This was my perch for a while as they swam!
The way back up the hill to my parents' home.  The shadow of the 80' pine makes an interesting pattern on the ground!
My parents are on the right, working their way up the hill!

NOT UPRIGHT EXACTLY

Yes, it is Covid;  JN.1 to be exact.  It could be worse because the fever is gone already and I was even able to sit and knit for a while.  Nyki is checking to see how soft the yarn is.
I dug out a Dotz project and worked on it for while when watching an old version of Murder on the Nile.

I still don't recommend this adventure mainly because it sure does mess with your social calendar!

THE QUILT PILE SHRINKS!

I loaded up the next quilt now that I have backing for it!  I will knock this one out soon enough as long as I don't get side-tracked! lol
The latest Diamond Dotz picture is finished!
This one Ella asked for since it matches her bedroom colors!  Sure is a good idea because I am getting quite a few of them and running out of wall space to hang them in my house!
I might start to give them as door prizes!

FINIISHES FOR THIS FRIDAY

The baby sweater is finished;
ready for the baby shower on Sunday!
I made this for a little boy at church.  He always has such interesting stories about what he was going to invent that I suggested he draw them for now so he will remember all of his great ideas.
I think he will very happy with this notebook just for him!
I have finished half of the latest dotz picture!

DOTTED

I just finished another 9 x 14" Diamond Dotz picture.  I might run out of room to hang these but I am not tired of making them yet I already have a new one picked out from the stash and will mount it on the art board today so I can begin it soon!

GROAN

I finally finished the dreaded stockinette-body-round-and-round-forever-stage--the ribbing is done and cast off, too! I am pressently working on the sleeves delighting over the fact that there are far fewer stitches to go round and round!  It is only a short sleeved sweater so it won't be long before I have these sleeves finished!  In fact, I have a doctor appointment today so I will have some waiting room knitting time! (I always postition myself as far from the dreaded game show program that will be on the waiting room tv and try to relax and knit instead!)
I tried a warm-up exercise on this recent watercolor.  I have some new acrylics that I want to paint with soon as I can bear standing and thinking.... and thought this would be a good way to get my colors flowing again!
After reading a few comments on my last post, I had a good laugh!  I said I 'saw a face' on the right side of the Dotz painting but it was indeed on the left side!  That is, unfortunately, One of the effects of my MS; my inability to say my right from my left--I can point okay but hearing it or having to tell someone can be rather contrary!!!!  (Can you imagine me as copilot?
I yell, "That way!" and just point! )
Anyway, this is the next Dotz painting is waiting for me;  I glued it to its board so I will be able to start working on it today, I hope!

MESSING WITH WOOL

I used the enforced up time in the morning yesterday to card some more fiber so I could spin another bobbin.
This is how the wool looks when I begin.
I load some on my hand card first.  (just glob it on! lol)
And then make sense of the wads by combing them for a few strokes--it doesn't take much to get it fluffy like this!

Next, I load these fluffly bits from the hand cards into the carding drum and add about 4-5  of the fluffy fiber from the handcards to make a 'batt' from the drum.
I brought 4 of them into my bedroom so I could spin from bed and someone immediately began to do her own fiber ministrations--biscuit making of the most intense attention!
And then she promptly laid down for a nap!
I did get to spin after a bit because a jet went over and she thought it was thunder and went to hide!
After I did my spinning, I finished the Dotz project I was working on when in NY last week!  (because I mount it on the art board before I work on it, I can recline in bed with it leaning on my knees to work on it!)  I didin't notice it there, but do you see the face of a woman toward the right of the water/sky?!
If you don't see her, blame it on my head cold--
it does impair my brain to be so stuffy!

FRIDAY FELINES

Lena likes to pose for me
when I am trying to take photos of a project!
The new baby hat is pretty, too! lol  It is really for a one year old so my doll is a bit small but you get the idea.
DK Yarn from Hobby Lobby.
I had an idea for the next Diamond Dotz porject--I mounted it to the canvas board before I started it this time!  It was easier to use the brayer and get it to seal without the dotz on the canvas! I trimed the corners this time to reduce bulk-much better.
Once the front was glued (Elmer's) to the front of the board, I glued the back and held it under weights (a pile of books)
 for several hours.
And now I can do the dotz without a table-it is it's own table!!!!   I could do it  on my lap while watching tv even!  My only irritation--the size of the Diamond Dotz lists it as 30 x 40 cm only it isn't!  I am glad I didn't just cut the board without measuring myself to be sure!  I am very pleased with this new idea!

DOTZ DONE

I can't believe I am done with this one already!
I have the supplies to mount it and will do so today.
I already have another Diamond Dotz project ordered!
Bill and I took advantage of the glorious weather yesterday for a lunch date!  It has been way too long since
 we've enjoyed a leisurely luncheon!
Yes, it was a wonderful time to enjoy each other's company!

MOUNTED!

I tried a new way to mount my Hummingbird Diamond Dotz and it turned out very nicely and I will be using it for lots of projects that need a bit of support to display!  This is especially true for odd-sized pieces that you can't find a frame for!  I bought some artisit's canvas panels and cut it to size
(in this instance, the boards are cut 9" x 9").
I then glued the front of the canvas
and stretched the Diamond Dotz material over the canvas.
Several hours later, I turned the canvas over
and folded the back to give a miter at the corner.
I glued the flaps down to the back--
I simply used Elmer's white glue.
(Sorry for the upside down picture but no matter what, it will only load on the blog upside down!) Once the flaps were glued down, I placed a piece of white, thin cardboard (like in the layer of a new shirt) cut to cover most of the back and glued it and used a roller to press it firmly in place.  The picture hanger was then centered and also glued with a pile of glue over the ends.
 It dried very securely!
And here were are--two nicely mounted matching pieces!
As soon as my WA granddaughters finish their birds
 and mail them to me,
I will mount them and display all four! in a grouping!

HORIZONTAL ENFORCEMENT

Another migraine drops me for the count!
It hit near bedtime so after a few hours of no vision and fighting nausea I was able to fall asleep and did sleep soundly and deeply until I woke up with the day-after-a-migraine headache!
Thankfully, I do have medicine to help control the pain and shorten the time spent in the migraine mist.
I placed dotz and managed working on quite a bit of this wall art--I thought the
even when I cannot see
part of the verse was very appropriate!

A SET OF DOTZ!

While in Tacoma, I finished the set of coasters.  It was great fun to work on these while the girls did dolphins and cats.
I have purchased a sealant for these so that the dotz can't be picked off either by accident or on purpose! lol
Since I didn't want to be done with the Dotz, I ordered another project. There are four different hummingbirds in this set;  I did one, Krystle another and the girls are still working on theirs and will mail them to me when completed so I will have the full set for a souvenir!  I think I will be mounting these on wood to look like canvas art work...I will work on what I have in my mind to do it!

WOOD ON WEDNESDAY!

I have had this bowl on the lathe for too long--I kept having trouble with the tenon chipping and letting the bowl go.  I took it off and rearranged the bottom and then carved out
the scoop of the bowl!
It felt good to work at the lathe again!  I then sanded it inside and out and put on two coats of the SealCoat.  Today, I will be putting the final finish on it and take it off the lathe after I remove the tenon.  Here's hoping for a successful finsh all the way around! lol
We had a T-storm roll up tonight so I sat and played with the Diamond Dotz and made another coaster!

DIAMONDS

I had so much fun making a coaster from the Diamond Dotz kit.  A very relaxing way to spend an hour!
I also whipped up another Shop Hop Block case-to surprise my Shop-hopping buddy, Mary!  We meet up again on Friday!

A LITTLE SETBACK

Circular needles are my favorite way to knit for socks but the problem is having the wooden tips which when sat upon do break!  It's a ...
