A Visit to the Studio

 I find myself at an unusual place in my progress;
to push myself to be upright long enough to build up strength
without working too long to the point of overdo.
It took me an hour to make these two face masks!
I was shaking, sweating and breathing so hard---you would think I was doing hard labor!
I think it was a good start to my physical therapy!
You know, the longer you are an invalid, the longer you are an 'in valid ' human being.
I long for validity!
(I know there is a grand fault in my logic, allow me some  hyperbole!)

I was happy to find some elastic cord-enough for these two masks is all
but there is yards and yards of 1/4" elastic to use.for future ones.
Do you see how ancient the elastic pkg is?!  From K-Mart for 52 cents!!!!
I collapsed in my chair and took a bit of time coloring in this new book from my oldest grands.
I had fun 'making dinner' and planning a perfect skein of yarn!

  2. Very cute mask. I have some elastic and bias tape in my sewing supplies from my Mom and she passed 31 years ago. Who knows how long she had it.
I'm glad you're getting up a bit longer each day, but my goodness, I wish you didn't feel so weak.
    Cute, cute, cute coloring book.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  3. Please do not overdo - a relapse wouldn’t be good. Masks are definitely useful. I wish I had elastic in my stash, but it didn’t make the cut when I moved. ❤️ the coloring book - enjoy.

  5. How wonderful that you are able to do a little more each day. It is certainly a reminder of the things we take for granted. When I was digging thru old sewing supplies for elastic, I found a pack labeled 5/$1 from a five and dime store that must have been in business back in the 60s/70s. So glad I kept it.

  6. Baby steps is what it takes. Respiratory issues are not fun. Dad had pneumonia many times and it was always such a long recovery. I remember that little machine he had to blow in every few hours to get those lungs working again. I tried it once and it was harder than I thought.

  7. Continuing to lift you up in prayer. I looked at my prayer note pad from when you first came down with the crud and couldn't believe how long it's been going on.
