EPIDENDRUM

The view outside my studio patio doors--the very large area of epidendrum!
In common flower vernacular, it is a ground orchid.
The slightest breeze causes all of the orange heads sway in a riot of color.  This has been growing for 16 years-all from one snip from a friend's plant.

  1. Very pretty. I had some of those when I lived in Orlando. I also had a very tiny green epidendrum that tended to fall out of the oak trees at a friend's farm in Ocala.

  2. I have never seen them before but they remind me of my grandmother. She was all about snipping. It would have been foreign to her to think about going to a nursery for plants when there are already so many out there waiting to be snipped....lol. I've got some of her snippings here. All of my hostas were pieces of hers at one time.
