A Renovation of Sorts!

(*My posts keep being late bc the internet is out every evg when I try and post!)
First off the list of to-do's for today is the mystery QOV
which is finished at quilt group yesterday.
Last night, I loaded up a new quilt on the frame
so I can get back in line for clearing up the long
queue for tops!
And I had an unusual project lined up for myself-
a young friend's bridesmaid dress that was good for well, nothing she would wear again.
The top had only one strap which left a lot of bare skin.
I offered to lop off the bottom and make a cropped shirt to go over the dress
so it could be used for dress up without looking like a bridesmaid dress anymore!
I just barely squeaked out the parts and even had to use the end of the sash for the collar
but I did it!
My Grandma who was the queen of eking out of fabric yardage, would've been proud of me!
Today, I will sew up this lined sheer top and see just how it all looks when I finish!

  1. I still remember my mother at the table, cursing silently, twisting fabric and pattern this way and that to make the most of every scrap:) and when I didn't have enough to make a dress for a little girl, I used the flowing fabric for the skirt bit, and crocheted a band to make the top! worked well, and she loves twirling around in it (what is it about little girls and twirly dresses?:)
