We had a family Christmas this weekend!
Rain had been predicted but we had a glorious sunny day instead!
On a walk, we found some beautiful blooming lichen!
I've never seen it in bloom and we appreciated these small (head of a pin small!) flowers!
There were tons of deer moss or Reindeer Moss which is a fungus!
Lichen on the old RR ties fence.
A partial skull and torso bone of an armadillo!
Look how sharp those teeth are?!
Nothing like a walk up the gully!
What a perfect day...
Looks like a gorgeous day! The flora is beautiful, too.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that lichen bloomed - amazing!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful!!! What amazing finds you came upon. I bet the Grands were in awe of the bones. How cool is that?
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had a beautiful day.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you had a wonderful time and a beautiful day to spend together. An armadillo skull? How crazy is that?
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
If you ever want to try natural dyeing, lichen is a great thing to use
ReplyDeleteLichens in bloom are phenomenal . Have only seen it in Spring in Chicago area. So lovely. Happy early festivities!
ReplyDeleteIs there some significance to the staging of the kids' photo? It seems the two in the middle are being held captive by rockets manned by the others. LOL Such wonderful discoveries to find!
