I've been working on these socks (Zigzagular)
and decided to work the gusset and heel way for this toe-up sock.
Using the guide for my socks, I saw that I was ready to increase for the gusset.
I worked the gusset and heel and I remembered how to work it without the book!
The stripes worked out beautifully
but more importantly, the heel has no holes
and is so much easier to knit!
It's nice to have a win on the needles!
I love the idea of making a pattern for foot size. I always have to guess. Usually I just use my own foot for size but I'm sure I miss as often as I hit when I do that for gift socks. The next time I get the family together I should trace all their feet.

ReplyDeleteI always do cuff down and an eye of partridge heel. It's what I learned and although I have tried others, I always return to it. I have heard others say they always seem to revert back to the one they learned first too. I also use dpn's. I've tried magic loop and also the 9 inch circular but they are just fiddly to me. I'm so gad there are different methods so everyone can use the equipmet and make socks just how they like to!
