Sunday Socks

The Alcedo Socks are now completed and blocked!
This was the January project from the Boost Your Knitting book.
The yarn for these socks is a sport weight.
The yarn I am not impressed with-it's superwash Merino but feels like mercerized cotton and splits,
a LOT!
The socks are comfortable on and that is a good thing;
I'm just not thrilled with the blackberry-like texture of the socks!
The gusset and heel was the lesson to learn in these toe-up socks.
I really like the way the gusset feels and once you figure out where to begin (there is a lot of figuring first) I really enjoyed it.  The short row heel is genius--no wrap and turns!  And thus, no holes.
Very good part of this pattern/lesson.
After being gone all day on Saturday, Lena was thrilled to see me and to get my attention,
she knows how to own the photo session!
These were actually the first two pictures I took of the socks!
I had to give her a brushing and then she let me have my turn with the socks!

  1. Pretty! I love the look of textured socks but I hate wearing them. They languish in the back of the sock drawer unless I'm going somewhere where I want to show off my knitting skills....lol.

  2. Fantastic finish! And fantastic furball, of course! Lena has come a long way since you first got her! Such a sweetie!

  3. The socks are beautiful and the heel turned out perfectly. I really like the color. It looks as though Lena approves of them too. I love how cats lay on top of whatever you're interested in whether it's knitting or a book you're trying to read. :-)
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  4. Ha! Cats and their expressive personalities! Maybe I could make better friends with knitting this style of heel (if you have all the bugs worked out, of course! 😁)?! I never have wrapped my head around the other one, which is very annoying to me!

COLD FOR CHRISTMAS!

Yup, a cold snap already which I hate for my flowers' sakes  but the fire sure makes a good consolation!
