Weathering the Storms

We woke up to 27*F temperature yesterday morning
and by 2 in the afternoon,
I could still do this---tap the frozen water!
The Turk's Cap is completely burned back to the ground.
The croton plant which is 4' tall is trying to hang on
but the bad news is that we were that low again last night!
Two nights in a row is killing not just burning.
And yet the Camellias just keep smiling.
I did a lot of knitting yesterday-it was too cold to work in the woodshop
in the garage so I finished the hat.
Didn't the yarn make a cool pattern?!
It stayed consistent like this all the way around
-not just pooling in only one place!
 I'm pleased!
And I thought I better get going on Bill's socks;  he is down with Covid.  While he has been sick for several days,
it wasn't possible to go to get a rapid test until today.
He is sick;  the way you are with a bad flu.
He is trying to stay in his own space, I follow him around with Lysol when our paths cross--
I found the last can of aerosol spray
 --just in time.

  1. Oh my goodness, I hope that Bill recovers swiftly and easily, and that no-one else is affected ... So sorry your plants are suffering in the cold. Your hat is a delight

  2. I hope Bill has a mild case and is back on his feet soon. When my sister's husband brought it home she isolated him and cleaned like a maniac. She caught it but it was a mild case compared to his thanks to her vigilant cleaning.
So sorry about the frost damage. I am starting to see it here too and even though it is expected this time of year right now it just seems cruel on top of everything else.

  3. Oh no! Sending lots of good thoughts to Bill, and I hope you don't get it!

  4. I'm so sorry Bill is sick. I hope he gets well soon.

  5. Prayers for a quick recovery and that you don't get it.

  6. I hope Bill has a relatively light and short case. This virus is nothing to sneeze at.
    That hat really is cool!

  7. I am so sorry Bill is so sick. Covid is hitting even those that are really careful. Bless your heart and his too. Hope he gets better soon.

  8. How did I miss this post? One of the most important ones? I'm so sorry Bill is positive for COVID and I will definitely be keeping you both in my prayers now that you're feeling sick too. I'm so sorry my friend. I'm hoping that it will be a mild case for both of you.

The first Helical striped sock is finished--the yarn is from Webs, their Valley Yarns Huntington in Arctic and Chocolate colors.  Perfection...
