The Flowers Know

The camellias are falling from the bush-it won't be long now and they will be done.  They have bloomed since the end of October so it has been a long season of viewing.
They are going just when the azaleas are popping out all over!  This row of bushes get the most sun and they are always first to bloom!  The other side of the driveway will be a month behind.
The beautiful iris is blooming-it's nice to see they survived the frosts this winter!
The crown of thorns was wrinkled from the frost a month ago but it began to bloom a few days ago and looks very happy now-it is such a relief because this was from a friend!
Off to the doctor's today to get a good report about my eyes is the plan!  What are you up to today?

  1. Gorgeous blooms! Still a ways away for us to have flowers outside...we are getting more snow today.

  2. Beautiful blooms! We are still in “pause” for blooming things, but not for too much longer...the daffodils are up and have started developing their flower buds! Today is housework and some more organizing in my sewing area. My new shelving — and handling all of my fabric in the last few days — has made me itch to do some quilt piecing, but I still can’t get to my sewing machine yet! Good motivation! :)

  3. This time last year the crocus were up but we are still covered in ice. I can still see the daffodil pushing up in some spots so I am hoping this hard freeze has not harmed too much. So much was ready to bloom when it hit. All the top foliage has tuned black. It is really a mess out there and so sad to see. We should get rain today and be back in the 40's. I can't wait.

  4. I love seeing all your flowers bloom when we are still under snow. My great grandmother had a crown of thorns as an indoor plant when I was very young. She died when I was 16. There are a few things that make me instantly think of her... the smell of roses, black cherry icecream, and Crown of Thorns plants!

  5. Such lovely blooms and color in your yard. Not much on my schedule for today - possibly some knitting and sewing.

  6. Shoveling, shoveling, and probably MORE shoveling!!! Yep! It's snowing again! LOL

I think the irises were my favorites when we had our Orlando house. But, the Crown of Thorns sure has a pretty flower too. Glad yours made it through the frosts.

  7. I love your Crown of Thorns! A friend gave me mine, but it's a house plant and doesn't look nearly as hearty as yours. I get excited when it has ONE flower! The camellias and tiny iris around here were blooming in the snow, and they all seem to have survived. Our camellias haven't bloomed yet though. I think there's a kind around here that bloom really early.

  8. I ran to the post-office to mail my MIL's mittens to her and also went to our storage unit to get more yarn. :-) I've started a baby blanket and was running out. I do like having a little bit of yarn set aside for when I need it without having to go shopping.
It's supposed to rain today which is much, much better than snow and will wash some of the white stuff away. In fact, I think I just heard thunder! Nope, it was the garbage truck that just drove by as I typed that! HA! HA!
Take care. I'll be crocheting the afternoon away while listening to the rain on the roof. That's one of my favorite things in an RV. Praying for good news as your doctors appointment.
    Blessings,
    Betsy
