This is a program we all need to watch now-tonight.

It is the show, American Experience , on your local PBS station.

Season 10, Episode 5

1918 Influenza

We think this COVID-19 is unique to us--a first for our nation.

We couldn't be more wrong.

Please watch this to get a perspective of our circumstances today.

  1. My grandmother's sister Elizabeth died at the age of 2 from that flu. My mother was named for her. My great grandmother never recovered from that loss. She was in a wheelchair for the rest of her life-which oddly was longer than either her daughter or my mother.

  2. I'll have to see if I can find the show. Thank you for the recommendation.

  3. I wish more people would do some reading on the Spanish Flu - particularly how hard it hit the U.S. There are so many similarities.

  4. My Mom was 4 years old in 1918. How I wish I could talk to her about her family’s experience.
