Socks Again!

The Fer-de-Lance Socks are completed!
The pattern by WanderingCatStudiio worked for these toe-up socks, too!
I used 2.50mm needles with Stroll fingering weight in the Sashay colorway.
The pattern showed up beautifully and looks very complicated!
While the socks are not exact matches,
I didn't think it was necessary for this yarn.
 What a good knit!

 INKTOBER DAY 18--TRAP
I had a Venus Fly plant as a teen;  it lived for a year, at least,
I fed it a spider or a fly every few days!
I've had a hard time keeping one alive in recent years for some reason.
I did like having the plant in the window sill and will try again!
Watercolor with pen for the trichomes (hair triggers at the outer lobes of the flowers).

  1. That yarn and that pattern play beautifully together, and the pooling at the heel is a fun accent! One of my friends had a Venus fly trap at his school desk and it caused all sorts of commotion and distraction when it was time to feed it...we enjoyed it more than the teacher did! Strange that you’re having trouble keeping one — plants are usually very happy to live with you!

  2. Beautiful socks and a beautiful flytrap.

When we were in Orlando, I had a few different pitcher plants. I always cleaned out the "pitchers" before bringing them in for the winter. It was amazing how much they captured.

  3. The socks look fabulous!

I had a venus fly trap several years back, but it didn't last long (maybe a month or so). It said to use distilled water, as the minerals in tap water would burn the roots... so I bought a jug from the automotive store. Turns out those ones (as opposed to the ones at the grocery store) have a bittering agent in them and I think that's what killed my poor Victor (yea, I named him). I really should try again.

  4. I’ve never seen a Venus Fly Trap in person, but they are intriguing plants. Love the socks!

  5. Pretty socks!
I almost did a Venus fly trap too. I did a quick Gogggle search for the word and didn't like what I saw. In fact, it turned me off so much I skipped the day completely.

  6. I really like how the socks turned out. The pattern and the yarn work great together.
I've never seen a real Venus fly trap plant. I remember seeing a movie years and years ago, "Little Shop of Horrors". Was that a Venuse Fly Trap plant? I remember having nightmares for weeks. I'm more a romance type of person! :-)
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  8. I think that I've knit this sock pattern in the past, or one like it. That yarn is perfect for it. I also had a Venus fly trap as a kid. Mine didn't live very long.

  9. Your socks ROCK. Great job . We have had venus fly traps here in Wisconsin and in Illinois , and they never lasted long.
HOWEVER, Zach can grow them with no problem in humid not Mexico!

  10. I've never seen a real Venus fly trap; your delicate painting of it is lovely to look at, with those soft pinks and greens. And I see that you're an accomplished knitter as well - wow!

WOOD WORKS

I cleaned the wood shop area;  the tools and the floor, etc so that I could begin work on that burl we acquired a few weeks ago!  It felt so...
