When the magnolia pods are all dropped and eaten by the squirrels, it is time for the red ginger cones to rise out of the ground!
They are very other-worldly, standing about a foot above ground the cones are very dense and waxy. You really expect to see a gnome any minute!Yesterday's Inktober prompt was Dune....so I painted a very Florida dune presentation!

An interesting plant indeed. Is it edible ginger?
ReplyDeleteIt is fun to know and appreciate the different markers of fall in different regions. Fall color in the south may not be as obvious as up north, but it is still wonderful and beautiful! Such a pretty beach scene.
ReplyDeleteI knew you would paint a beach dune! It looks great. I have NO talent for landscape things so I opted for the cover of the book Dune. Lucky for me it was a very simple design and a lot of fun to do.
ReplyDeleteNice painting. Those red pods are so weird!!
ReplyDeleteNature’s gnomes - how unusual and fun.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen anything like those red cones. You have such different plants than we do up here in the northland! Love that dune drawing. How I miss the ocean. I sure hope we're free to travel next year. The Oregon coast is calling to me.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Betsy
Those ginger cones are so cool!
ReplyDeleteFor us it is the gorgeous color of the trees!!! They make me what to make more Fall shade projects, knit and sewn.
ReplyDeleteLove your painting, you're so talented! xx
