The crushing headache and body pain was greatly reduced yesterday so I headed to the garage to do some more cleaning and organizing.
I have the tools arranged in a square with plenty of room in the middle.
I've added the workbench to the mix--
how nice to see everything available for me now!
Bill worked his way out to fix the switch on the drill press for me
so I am all set!
I decided to put a chunk of wood on the lathe and turn it into a bowl
with a bit of bark left on the rim.
The bowl has what is called a live edge bowl because it is 'high/low' following the contours of the outside of the tree for the rim of the bowl.
I am putting to practice recent YouTube posts I've watched.
I ended yesterday with a good pal and a good knit--I've just turned the heel and will head up the leg on Bill's second sock!
It's a good corner to turn!
That's an interesting hunk of wood you have there! It's going to be fun to see how this one progresses.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you and Bill are feeling better. I don't trust those tests anyway, so many false results.
ReplyDeleteYour workshop is set up so nicely with everything you need ready to hand. It will be fun to see how the bowl turns out. I love the tables and shelves that I've seen with the live edge, so I imagine the bowl will be beautiful too.
Blessings,
Betsy
Sorry to have been so out of touch and hope you're feeling lots better! I am intrigued with your woodcraft and can't wait to see the finished product! Hugs to you and a Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteLove the last picture. Most of my knitting sessions look like that.
ReplyDeleteGreat to read that you felt well enough to go and do some wood-turning to such great effect. Sounds as if you are both on the mend.
